Think Outside the classroom

FAQs

We created the Field Trip Grants program so that more students can have opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. You pick the trip and your group could get up to $700 from Target to help make inspiration happen.

What is a Field Trip Grant?

The Target Field Trip Grants program is an innovative, no-strings-attached initiative that funds field trips for students nationwide. Over 3,600 grants of up to $700 each will be awarded in January 2016. Grants are provided to applicants throughout the United States.

How can we use a Field Trip Grant?

Target Field Trip Grant funds are best used for visits to art, science and cultural museums, community service or civic projects, career enrichment opportunities and other events or activities away from the school facility. Funds may be used to cover field trip-related costs such as transportation, ticket fees, food, resource materials and supplies.

How do I apply?

Click the "Get Started" link and follow the instructions to register and complete the online application. You'll need to provide an active e-mail address. Many school networks have strict security filters, so be sure to add us to your approved senders list. The e-mail address will help us contact you if we need more information or to provide updates on your status.

When do I apply?

Online applications will be accepted between August 1, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. CT and October 1, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. CT. We recommend you complete and submit your application as early as possible to avoid high traffic on the site as the deadline approaches. Only one submission per individual educator will be accepted.

Why do I need to print my application?

We recommend that all applicants print and save their applications should they be needed for future reference.

How many grants will Target award?

We'll distribute over 3,600 Field Trip Grants for the 2015-2016 school year.

How will I be notified if I have won?

All applicants will be notified of their status by e-mail by December 15, 2015. Potential Field Trip Grant recipients will also be notified by U.S. Mail. Grant recipients are required to verify their application and sign a publicity release before funds are distributed.

How are grants paid?

Verified Field Trip Grant recipients will receive a check in mid January 2016. The grant check will be made payable to the school, designated for field trip use. Scholarship America will mail the check to the home address provided in the application.

When must a grant be used?

Grants must be used for the proposed field trip between January 2016 and the end of the current school year (May/June, 2016). If a grant is not used within that time period, it will be forfeited.
